Liam Aylward MEP meeting with a visitor group in the European Parliament in Brussels this week  Liam Aylward MEP showing his support for a pledge for cardiovascular health during the MEP Heart Group's Cardiovascular Health Week. The MEP Heart Group is a forum of MEPs interested in promoting measures to help lower the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases in the EU and to raise cardiovascular diseases as a priority on the political agenda. Liam Aylward MEP  and his colleagues Brian Crowley MEP and Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP met with representatives of Irish farming organisations in the European Parliament in Brussels today.  The MEPs and the group exchanged views on the reform of the CAP, food fraud and the horse meat scandal, the implications of EU bilateral trade deals on the Irish beef sector and the need to cut the administrative burden on farmers.

Fianna Fáil MEPs Liam Aylward MEP and Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP sought an urgent meeting today in Strasbourg with the Commissioner for Trade, Karel de Gucht to express their grave concerns about the re-opening of trade negotiations with Mercosur and to defend the position of Irish agriculture. Liam Aylward MEP and the Fianna Fáil MEPs meeting with the Irish Farmers' Association in the European Parliament in Strasbourg this week to discuss the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy post 2013 and the future of Irish agriculture.
